The Crestwood Local School District Board of Education voted to approve the naming rights of the track inside of Jack Lambert Stadium. The track will now be known as “Bridget Franek Track.” Franek, a 2006 graduate of Crestwood High School excelled as a Red Devil. During her time at Crestwood, Bridget put together the most decorated career of any Crestwood athlete. Some of her accomplishments include:

  • 2003 & 2004 OHSAA DI Runner-Up – 1600m  
  • 2004 & 2005 OHSAA DII Runner-Up – XC  
  • 2005 OHSAA DI 1600m State Champion (4:45 – State Record)
  • 2005 OHSAA DI 800m Runner-Up 
  • 2006 OHSAA DII 4 x 800m Relay Team Champions
  • 2006 OHSAA DII State Champion – 1600m (4:56), 800m (2:11 – State Record), 3200m (10:43 – DII State Meet Record)
  • 2006 OHSAA DII Overall Team State Champions
  • OHSAA DII State Record Holder – 3200m (10:16.50)


Upon graduation, Bridgett attended Penn State University where she would continue her impressive career. During her time as a Nittany Lion, she collected several awards including:

  • 2007 Big Ten Freshman of the Year
  • Three-Time Penn State Record Holder 
  • 2010 Big Ten Champion 3000m Steeplechase 
  • Six-Time NCAA Championships Participant 
  • 2010 NCAA National Champion 3000m Steeplechase 
  • Ten-Time NCAA All-American
Franek next set her sights on the global stage, making the World Championships Team twice for the USA. She was twice a runner-up in the U.S. outdoor steeplechase. The ultimate highlight was the 14th place finish in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
The Crestwood athletic department, track & field team, and the Crestwood community will honor Bridget by naming the track “Bridget Franek Track” at the Don Faix Invitational at Jack Lambert Stadium on Saturday, April 10th.
