The Crestwood Athletic Department is happy & proud to recognize the following fall student-athletes who were nominated by their coaches as September “Student-Athletes of the Week.” These student-athletes will be recognized along with the September Students of the Month at a luncheon next week during school.
Girl’s Cross Country
Quoting Head Coach Kim Ondash: Maddie has a fantastic work ethic, has overcome running through injury, and is a great student. Maddie manages band school and cross country, and will do anything for the team.
Boy’s Cross Country
Quoting Head Coach Jim Schweickert: At our first meet, he was last runner on the team. At most recent meet he finished fifth on the team, earning a letter. He quietly works at practice and has progressed steadily all year. Joey is not a vocal person, but someone who will work all year, and seems to sneak up on teammates and competition due to his laid back personality.
Quoting Head Coach Jessica Mazanetz: Autumn also received our “Competitor of the Week” award for attitude. When either she was struggling or she saw her teammates struggling, she made a conscious effort to remain positive and rise above the circumstances. These efforts to remain mentally tough helped our team tremendously. Her positive attitude also helped Autumn improve on her average score by almost 10 strokes!
Quoting Head Coach Wayne Smith: Ian is an unselfish leader, a hard worker and really enjoys the game of golf. His positive attitude and contagious energy inspire his teammates to improve daily.
Ashleigh Fowler & Taylor Lough
Quoting Head Coach James Furth: I would like to recognize both Taylor and Ashleigh for their outstanding efforts not only in the PTC tournament, but throughout the season. Ashleigh Fowler has been a consistent performer for our team at both the First Doubles and Third singles position all season, and has shown steady improvement since the first day. Taylor Lough is a natural athlete who joined our team on the first day of school and has proven to be a great presence both on and off the court. She has demonstrated a tremendous amount of natural ability for the game and continues to improve daily. Both Taylor and Ashleigh personify the goals of the CHS Girls Tennis program, which are hard work, steady improvement and a positive attitude.
