Bob Dean is in his 2nd year as the Director of Athletics & Activities for the Crestwood Local Schools.  He spent his previous 11 years as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach & Student-Athlete Affairs Administrator for Hiram College.  In those 11 years, he became the all-time leader in coaching wins in program history and his teams won the prestigious National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s “Team Academic Achievement Award” for having a team GPA of 3.0 or above for each of his 11 seasons and the 2013 “Team Ethics Award of Merit.” He coached 33 All-North Coast Athletic Conference players.  He also spent nine years serving on the NCAA Student-Athlete Affairs Committee and helped to design the NCAA/NASPA Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership Project “360Proof.”  Prior to Hiram, Bob was the first full-time alcohol & drug abuse prevention professional employed in a public school in Ohio and spent 17 years as the Student Assistance Administrator and Head Women’s Soccer Coach for the Hudson City Schools in Hudson, Ohio.  He is nationally-known speaker and consultant who has spoken to and trained thousands of students, teachers, parents and coaches since 1981 on topics including alcohol and other drug abuse, leadership development, peer issues and positive youth development.  Bob has trained and spoken in over 700 different school districts around the nation.  As a coach, he was recognized by his peers as the Ohio High School Division I Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1998 and was privileged to lead his teams to the Ohio Division I State Championship in 2000 and the Ohio “Final Four” five times between 1990 and 2003, finishing twice as runners-up. He was recognized by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association with their “Ethics, Integrity and Sportsmanship” Award for 2000 and was a finalist for the National Federation of High School Coaches “National Coach of the Year” award for 2001-02.  Bob was honored to coach 65 players who went on to play collegiately, 40 Academic All-Ohioans, 18 All-Ohioans, and five (5) All-Americans.  He was recognized as an alcohol and drug abuse professional for his leadership by the Ohio Department of Education, the National S.A.D.D. organization and other groups.  Bob was inducted in 2003 into the Aurora High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.  He served as a member of the Safe & Drug-Free Schools Advisory Committee for the Ohio Department of Education from 1995 through 2003.  Bob is a graduate of Kent State University, is an Ohio & Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist-Level II, and holds two national coaching certifications from the United States Soccer Federation as well as the Royal Dutch Football Federation.  He and his wife, Sally, their 18-year-old daughter, Abby, and 15-year-old son, Ryan, live in Kent, Ohio.
